Frequently Asked Questions
- Painless, Permanent, & Undetectable

1. How much does the hair transplant surgery cost?
Our surgical fees are in the median range for our profession. An exact fee is quoted after careful consideration with each patient. We are open to discussion regarding individual patient needs and circumstances regarding fees. Out of town patients may request travel and housing allowances when appropriate.

2. How long does micro-surgery take?
Each procedure requires approximately 4-6 hours depending on the number of grafts needed.

3. Will my surgery be noticeable?
Mild scabbing in the grafted area will be present for 7-10 days. Careful following of post-operative instructions will minimize this. The crusts will be less noticeable as each day passes.

4. Is my procedure guaranteed?
Your graft growth should exceed 96%. Any grafts that do not grow will be replaced within one year without charge provided there is adequate donor hair available.

5. Is the procedure painful?
Pain is minimal. Prior to surgery, oral medication is provided to sedate and prevent pain. At the time of surgery, vibration is used to mitigate pain from local anesthesia. Post operatively, you will be provided with oral medications for home use.

6. How does micro-grafting work?
Micro-grafts containing one hair each are selectively “feathered” into microsurgical slits placed in the 1st one centimeter of the hairline. This is really an undulating zone, which is the way hair grows naturally. Mini-grafts of 2-4 hairs each can then be placed gradually behind this zone, to add density into the interior scalp. The size of grafts will be variably chosen depending on individual hair color, density, texture and curl. Some patients choose to use only micro-grafts of 1-3 hairs for the entire procedure. This is a personal decision.

7. Is transplanted hair more delicate?
After your new hair grafts grow out, there is nothing delicate or fragile about it. They can be permed, colored, or straightened. It is your hair, you can engage in vigorous activities, without fear of washing or blowing your new hair away.

8. Can hair be transplanted into areas other than the scalp?
Yes. Dr. Woessner transplants hair on men and women into eyebrows and on men into mustaches and beards. The transplanted hair blends in well with existing hair and is permanent.
